Sublimited is holding a contest to see who can best re-create Guy Mariano’s legendary part from Girl’s Mouse video. The prize is currently sitting at $1000 and is coming from the pockets of Joshua Steimie’s (Sublimited Owner) web design business. That may sound like a nice prize, but when you consider that there are 41 clips (13 of which are lines) to film, that’s a pretty hefty task. If you can pull this off, you’re probably already sponsored and should be out getting your own original footage instead of chasing a tough thousand bucks.
That said, I still thinks it’s a cool contest. Some people are fussing about how it’s stupid to re-create a masterpiece. I see it as a fun challenge. Challenge is the keyword though. I doubt there will be many entries. For Josh’s sake, I hope he adds some more rules to this contest. I’d hate to see him have to dish out $1000 to a lone entrant who’s submitted video is nothing like Mariano’s part.
Here’s Guy Mariano’s part from Mouse to refresh your memory (and for those of you who have never seen it):
This is a list of the tricks to duplicate. (I’m sure I got a few names wrong, but you can watch the clip for clarification. Fakie tricks mess me up.):

I did add one more rule giving me a loophole in case all the submissions are just absolutely horrible.
My dream with this contest would be that some kid out there who rips uses this as his opportunity to create a sponsor-me video and he ends up getting a lot more than just $1K for his efforts but actually gets picked up by some team.

Holy cow, so if someone has a box in front of their house, or their own personal rail, then this all wouldn’t be too impossible. I just hope that no one hurts themselves to get that 1000 lol.

[…] Yeah, you are reading that one right. I just came across this contest from Sublimited who is holding a contest to see who can best re-create Guy Mariano’s legendary part from Girl’s Mouse video. The prize money is coming straight from Joshua Steimie’s own pockets. It is quite a feat to beat becouse according to Altered Skateboarding site (which shows a list of all of the tricks and lines by the way) there are 41 clips (13 of which are lines) to film. If you can do all of this you probably are sponsored already, but what the heck…it’s like a game of SKATE right? Here’s the video for ya: […]

[…] 2. Valid submissions. I’m not doing this so that I can get 100 videos of kids doing slow tricks on 2 inch high curbs. I’m going to exercise my right to say that none of the submissions is valid if nobody can come close to doing even just one trick. That might sound harsh, but on the other side of things, if anyone can handle just a few of Guy’s tricks and do them well, that might be enough to win. Thanks to Altered for compiling a comprehensive list of all Guy’s tricks in Mouse. […]
